MD | MS in India is one of the most prominent and Respected career option the student’s dreams to pursue, Post-graduation Medical course In INDIA has its own charm there are lots of positives for which students lean towards MD | MS course, these courses has career stability, social recognition and moreover, there is a satisfaction to the Postgraduate medical doctors as they are into serving the society for the most Nobel Cause. MD stands for Doctor of Medicine and it involves 3-year Clinical training in the field of Medicine while doing MD students get speciality training to treat patients/diseases through non-surgical procedure i.e. with Medicines only. MS stands for master of surgery and it involves 3-year clinical training in the field of Surgery, while doing MS students gets speciality training to treat the patients/diseases through various Surgical procedure. The MBBS graduates after completion of their degree apply for these courses through a national level entrance test NEET-PG which is conducted by NBE (National Board of Examination) once every year. Talking about MD MS specialization selection most of the people in India are often confused and especially when it is about the Post-graduation because of the whole future of the individual lies on the choice which he or she makes. Students can think of certain factors before selecting the Post-graduation medical specialization/course, the decision should be taken upon thinking of factors like Annual Earnings, Scope of that specialization, Career Security etc.
The MBBS graduates who wish to take their professional career to the next level and want to become a specialist doctor has to pursue MD or MS. To get admission in MD MS in INDIA an aspirant has to qualify NEET-PG entrance test conducted by NBE every year in the month of January. To apply for NEET-PG the aspirants must have permanent or Provisional registration with MCI and has completed his/her MBBS degree from MCI recognizes medical college/institute with a 1-year compulsory internship. After successfully qualifying NEET-PG entrance test the students have to go through the Central level and state level NEET-PG counselling.
The central level NEET-PG counselling is conducted by MCC (medical counselling committee) on behalf of DGHS(Director General Health Secretary), the MCC conduct counselling for All India quota 50% seats in all government colleges, 100% seats in central universities like AMU and BHU, 100% seats in AFMC, DU (Delhi universities) and ESIC hospitals, 100% seats in private Deemed universities. The state-level NEET-PG counselling is conducted by DME (Director Medical Education) of respective states for 50% State quota seats in government colleges of the state and 100% seats of private medical colleges within the state
The eligibility criteria set for the aspirants is very simple and sophisticated. Students don’t require to do lots of formalities for sitting in NEET PG entrance examination for the sake of pursuing MD | MS in India.
The Students must have an M.B.B.S degree with minimum 50% marks from institutions recognized by Medical Council of India.
Moreover, it is mandatory for the aspiring students to complete one year of an internship on or prior to 31st march are also accepted.
Students must hold a provincial or permanent certificate of registration issued by the MCI or State Medical Council.
Admissions are done on the basis of All India Rank according to the National Eligibility Entrance Test Post Graduate (NEET PG 2022) Conducted by NBE (National Board of Examination).
Below mentioned criteria is for those who are applying under AIQ 50% seats. As per the NEET PG eligibility criteria, the candidates from Jammu and Kashmir are not eligible for applying under AIQ 50% seats.
However, the candidates of Jammu and Kashmir are only eligible if they are nominated by the Government of India under central pool seats to pursue MBBS from the medical college of J&K.
The government nominated candidates have to submit a duly signed affidavit with the statement that they are nominated by the Government of India under AIQ 50% seats. Students have to submit this affidavit along with an application form within the prescribed date to satisfy the criteria.
Indian citizens or overseas citizens of India who have obtained their Primary Medical Qualifications from Medical Colleges outside India should have qualified the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (Screening Test) which is conducted by the National Board of Examinations. Further, they should have been registered with MCI/SMC and should have completed their internship or likely to complete their internship on or before 31 March 2024.
Foreign Medical Graduates are required to bring their FMGE Pass certificate issued by NBE on their testing day.
